[netperf-talk] questions about netperf

I have a few questions about compiling netperf and its version number.

1. http://www.netperf.org/netperf/ says that the latest version is
2.4.3 whereas the tarball on ftp.netperf.org shows 2.4.4 as the
highest numbered version. Which of these is the latest?

2. I am trying to create an easy to read Makefile which will compile
netperf on my linux workstation. Currently, netperf uses gnu automake
to generate the makefile. I examined the output of make as well as the
Makefile, but couldn't quite figure out the dependecny list for each
target - netperf and netserver. Is there a  Makefile like which
simply lists each target, the files that depend on it, and the rule to
build each target?
