I have a pretty aggressive spam filter on this account, and missed
your first message.  Was your goal to use sendfile on Solaris 9,
or did you just want things to compile?

The patch I sent to Rick was to build Solaris 10 (and higher) with Sun
cc.  I wasn't even aware that Solaris 9 *had* sendfile support.  I
haven't used a Solaris 9 machine in years, and I don't have access to
one.  Try the attached patch.  I have no idea how well sendfile will
work (or if it will work at all).

If the patch doesn't work and you just want it to compile,
edit the generated config.h file and comment out the line
which says:

#define HAVE_SENDFILE 1
