Well, FWIW, I have compiled a precursor to 2.4.4 on a system running 
Solaris 10 without incident.  That was with Sun's own compilers.  So, if 
you are able, you might consider trying Sun's compilers.

Of course, I just now tried a TCP_SENDFILE test and it dumped core :)

So, if you can, still try the Sun compilers, and I'll see if I can find 
and fix the core dump - unless someone say from Sun happens to beat me 
to it - hint hint... :)
