Having cautioned that the interim results might not arrive exactly at 
the same interval, I figured I should provide and example of what I 
meant, so here is a test across a MAN (from HP PaloAlto to HP Cupertino):

Notice that not all the intervals are the same length and they don't 
always get all that close to the requested 0.5 seconds.
